This paper describes the design, measurement, and modeling
of a linear inerted-F antenna with loading to increase the impedance
bandwidth. In this case, two L-shaped wire structures are connected to
the open end of the inerted-F element, yielding an impedance bandwidth
of 10% in the 1800 MHz band. Measurements of return loss,
impedance bandwidth, and gain are presented. The radiation pattern and
polarization purity are discussed. The modeling of the antenna is based
on a method of momentsGTD technique. A comparison with experimental
results is presented. A comparison is also made with the popular
planar inerted-F antenna.
