Abstract

Cellular wireless handset manufactures are integrating GPS technology into their devices to comply with the needs of emergency services. With insufficient space for conventional right hand circularly polarised antennas, there is a need for a miniature antenna designed to operate on the handset. This paper discusses the dielectric-loaded quadrifilar helix antenna, which has an optimum cardioid radiation pattern and operates efficiently on the handset.
